Keratosis pilaris (KP), typically found in children and teens, is a common, non-contagious, harmless condition in which areas of the skin appear to be covered in goose pimples or raised papules. The backs of the upper arms and outer thighs are the most seen areas for keratosis pilaris. KP results when too much keratin (located in the outer layer of skin) builds in the hair follicles. Symptoms involve symmetrical scaly spots of red, brown or skin toned with the absence of itching or soreness. My Med Spa offers laser hair removal, Intense pulsed light (IPL), and topical treatments to help control the appearance of these bumps. Laser hair removal can assist in eliminating the hair follicles responsible for causing KP by preventing the formation of plugs these follicles often cause. Additionally, My Med Spa offers a Milky lotion cleanser and a Purifying Wash from Epionce. Epionce is a paraben-free, and sulfate-free skin care line, and provides a milky lotion cleanser suited for dry and sensitive issues. It is gentle on the skin and provides the key ingredients necessary to remove issues that cause damage and chronic irritation. This will reduce redness and improve texture, allowing for more smooth and hydrated skin. The Purifying wash contains salicylic acid, a key ingredient to help exfoliate effected areas, and remove dead skin cells, resulting in decreased redness, dryness, and bumps. Another option to reduce redness and inflammation in KP is IPL. IPL is a safe, effective, and timely treatment option if other more therapeutic options have failed.

Smooth skin is within your reach.
